A plate of crispy roasted potato pieces.

Roasted potatoes are one of my absolute favorite meals! Or is it a snack? Hard to say because every time I pass by that baking sheet of crunchy olive oil or fat covered bites I can't help but snack on them! It doesn't matter if they are mini red potatoes, large russet potatoes, or purple fingerling potatoes - I love em' all!

Not only can you have them as a snack, but my favorite way to enjoy them is either with a seasoned sour cream sauce, underneath eggs and hollandaise, or tucked into a massive and delicious breakfast burrito. Ya, my mouth is watering and I should really eat breakfast.

So, if you are like me and adore roast potatoes (which I will seriously question you if that's not your jam), then this is the post for you! Not only do we have an amazing roasted potato recipe here at Joy to the Food you can make but we also have compiled all our favorite ways to use them! So let's get cracking!

What Goes With Roasted Potatoes?

Anything! Ok, maybe not like banana pudding put pretty much any savory dish will go with potatoes. Potatoes in general make for a hearty and versatile meal. They can be served as a side, eaten on their own, or smothered in a delicious sauce. Enjoy them with protein, with veggies, or with breakfast!

What meat goes well with roasted Potatoes?

I'm so glad you asked! Roasted potatoes can go with many different proteins and luckily we have put together a comprehensive list of protein dishes you can serve with any potato recipes. Ranging from chicken to fish to pork to beef, we have all the options!

1. Mustard and Onions Stuffed Chicken Breast

This Low Carb Stuffed Chicken Recipe is a delicious, healthy main dish to serve with roasted potatoes.

This recipe uses Greek yogurt, mustard and onions to create a creamy sauce stuffed into the chicken breast making it great to pair with a garlic powder and parmesan cheese based roasted potato recipe.

Ready on the grill or in the oven, it can be prepped the day before and prepped in minutes.

2. Pork Chops in Mushroom Soup

Warm, comforting, cozy – All words to describe these tender pork chops smothered in cream of mushroom soup! This recipe is made in an Instant Pot or slow cooker so it won't mess with the cook on the potatoes!

If you're looking for a budget meal that doesn't skimp on flavor then these pork chops paired with roasted potatoes is for you. You can even add extra mushroom soup and smother both the potatoes and pork chops in this creamy sauce!

3. Parmesan Crusted Baked Walleye

Flaky, crunchy fish is a delicious pairing to roasted potatoes (or roasted potato salad - which I'll discuss more later!).

This fish is super easy to make and ready in 15 minutes making it a great weeknight staple! It honestly takes longer to thaw the darn fish. Topped with a splash of lemon juice, this walleye will perfectly compliment any roast potatoes.

4. Creamy Mediterranean Salmon

My personal favorite pairing with potatoes! This recipe includes juicy salmon with a creamy yogurt lemon garlic sauce that is packed with fresh herbs.

Pairing potatoes with a creamy sauce is a great way to get that dipping sauce affect without actually dipping. It also helps to mellow (but not mute) any bold flavors on the potatoes, like black pepper, cayenne, or turmeric.

Little sauce on the fish, little sauce on the potatoes and we are all happy campers!

5. Traditional Meatloaf

Meatloaf is a great addition to potatoes. Yes, it is the addition TO the potatoes. Think burger and french fries but meatloaf and potatoes - a classic pairing!

This traditional meatloaf is best with ketchup over top - just like the potatoes! You can also bake both the potatoes and the meatloaf at the same temp which makes for an easy oven hassle free meal.

6. Cranberry Chicken Thighs

For a festive kick or just for special occasions, I like to pair this cranberry chicken with roasted potatoes.

This recipe uses chicken thighs to get that super crispy skin on the chicken. It also tastes delicious with gravy on both the chicken and the potatoes!

7. Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy

Along the lines of meat and potatoes, I would be crazy to not include Salisbury steak on this list of potato pairings.

This one is covered is a creamy mushroom sauce that only benefits from the crunch of roasted potatoes. It is a family favorite and quite possibly the best way to enjoy potatoes as a delicious side dish.

8. Honey Dijon Pork Tenderloins

Ok ok - sweet and salty - one of my favorite things! These honey dijon pork tenderloins are such a staple in our house. These pork chops are juicy and ready in the blink of an eye!

The great thing about pairing sweet and salty is that it makes dishes super kid friendly! And no, I don't condone serving kids tons of sweets but when you have picky eaters, honey Dijon can certainly help!

9. Lamb Chops with Mustard Thyme Sauce

Try serving roasted potatoes with a flavorful protein such as a herb-crusted lamb or a savory pork tenderloin. The rich meat pairs perfectly with the crispy, salty potatoes.

This spinach and mushroom quinoa skillet is a great recipe for a busy weeknight meal.

It has all the right ingredients for a healthy and filling dish, and if paired with roasted potatoes you'll have a perfect meal!

If you've never had polenta then now's your chance to give it a try! Polenta is a creamy dish made of yellow cornmeal that's oh so good.

This amazing Polenta recipe features mushrooms in a red wine sauce. It's a creamy smooth dish that pairs perfectly with crunch potatoes on the side!

17. Portobello Mushrooms With Spinach and Feta

Mushrooms don't get as much love as they deserve. In particular, Portobello mushrooms are big enough to make into a great main dish, as this recipe does!

These Portobello mushrooms come stuffed with feta cheese and spinach and then are marinated in balsamic vinegar. It makes a great side for roasted potatoes!

18. Spinach and Ricotta Stuffed Shells

We recommend another stuffed recipe to round out our vegetarian recommendations. These spinach and ricotta stuffed shells are simply fabulous!

They're giant shells and cooked in a tomato sauce. Make a little extra sauce and throw it on top of a side of roasted potatoes for a delicious side dish!
