Joy Tip!
A lot of people learned to cook bacon on the stovetop in a skillet. This can be quite a mess! If you’ve never cooked bacon in the oven be sure to follow this recipe for doing so. It’s so much easier and less messy to cook bacon in the oven!
Facts and Common Questions
What’s in the DQ Flamethrower sauce?
Our copycat version of DQ Flamethrower sauce uses mayonnaise, chipotles in adobo sauce, and ranch seasoning. It’s got a good kick to it but it’s not over-the-top spicy. The full recipe can be found here!
Is the Flamethrower burger hot?
We would rate this burger as being medium hot. The bacon has a kick because it's flavored with jalapenos. The flamethrower sauce also has a kick from the chipotle peppers in the sauce. However, jalapenos and chipotles are in the middle of the spice scale.
What pairs well with this burger?
The classic DQ sides such as onion rings and french fries are great to make alongside this burger. Also, fruit salads and cole slaw are also good sides because they can help calm down the spice level of the burger!
Want to Save it for Later? Here’s how!
This burger can be saved for 2-3 days in the fridge. You can store the burger fully assembled in an airtight container. However, it's best to store the burger ingredients without the bun and just use a new bun when ready to eat. This is because the bun will get soggy in the fridge.
To reheat, it's best to only heat the beef patties and bacon. They can be microwaved for one minute. They can also be cooked in the oven at 350 degrees for five minutes. Once the beef patties and bacon are heated you can reassemble your burger!
Fun Fact
Chipotles do not grow on trees or bushes, they are not even a type of pepper! Chipotles are smoked and overripe red jalapenos. The overripe, shriveled jalapeños are picked to be smoked into chipotles. It takes about 10 jalapeños to make 1 pound of chipotle powder. (Source)
