We have perfected the Christmas Morning Chai recipe at home so that everyone (west coast or not) can enjoy it! This chai tea makes its mark with the addition of white chocolate syrup. The white chocolate adds sweetness and a slightly caramelized nuttiness that goes wonderfully with the ginger, cardamom, and other warm spices of chai tea.

Ingredients and Substitutions
All substitutions are a 1:1 substitute unless otherwise noted.
Chai Tea Concentrate: Chai concentrate is exactly what it sounds like, it's concreted chai tea flavor with a little sweetener. These typically come in boxes, similar to nut milk or chicken stock, and can be found next to the tea bags. We use Oregon Chai Tea Concentrate. Chai tea packets can also be used.
Substitutions: While you can use chai tea bags with full cardamom pods and black pepper, the flavor will not be enough to stand out against the half and half. I recommend using chai tea instant powder mix as a substitute or if using chai tea bags, steep 3 tea bags with cinnamon sticks to really amp up the flavor.
Half & Half: Half and half has a higher fat content than whole milk making this chai tea latte crazy creamy!
Substitutions: Whole milk or coconut milk can be used.
White Chocolate Syrup: This is what makes this cozy drink so tasty and sweet! It really sets this apart from other chai drinks.
Substitutions: Vanilla syrup or white chocolate chips can be used. If using white chocolate chips and making the iced version of Dutch Bros Christmas morning chai you may have to heat the milk to melt the chocolate chips. You could also try adding some cold brew for more of a kick too! Other sweeteners such as brown sugar or dark chocolate could be tried but we haven not tested these.
How to Make this - Step by Step
Step one: Add the chai tea concentrate and half & half to a mug or glass. If you want a hot version, add it to a mug and heat it for 1 minute and 30 seconds. If you want the cold drink version then add it to a glass.
Step two: Mix in the white chocolate sauce until dissolved. Add ice if desired otherwise enjoy warm!

Joy Tip!
This is the fun one! You can pour the chai tea concentrate into ice cube trays and pour the milk and white chocolate over the 6-7 chai ice cubes.

Want to Save it for Later? Here’s how!
This drink saves wonderfully! It should not be frozen altogether but check out the Joy Tip above for a fun way to freeze it!
Fridge: This is the most obvious. Have some hot Christmas morning chai left over? Cover it and pop it in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat or pour over ice when ready to enjoy.
Freezer: This drink should not be mixed and then frozen as the half and half will freeze differently than the chai, causing it to separate.
How To Make This High Protein
Simply mix in 1 scoop of unflavored collagen peptides. This will add 10-20g of protein ith little to no extra work!
