high protein yogurt parfait highlights
- There's no protein powder or any powder for that reason! All the protein comes from whole sources.
- It's ready in 5 minutes using your favorite vanilla yogurt (yes, I have vegan high protein options too!)
- You can meal prep it to have as an afternoon snack throughout the week.
I have this weird thing with parfaits - I don't like them. Which you're reading this and you're like why do you have a yogurt parfait recipe then? Well, because I like a good challenge.
I wanted to create one that even I liked, was high protein, and didn't use protein powder. We all know I love brownie batter things (🖐 brownie chia seed pudding and brownie batter overnight oats) so of course I needed to use that to inspire this yogurt parfait. Now, I don't want to give anything away, but I've eaten this twice in two days soooo... I think I was successful!
ingredient notes & substitutions
All substitutions are a 1:1 substitute unless otherwise noted. See recipe card for quantities.
- Vanilla yogurt: I used Siggis vegan yogurt that has 12g of protein but you can use any vanilla Greek yogurt.
- The chocolate & mix ins: Cacao powder has more nutrients than cocoa powder, but they can be used interchangeably in this recipe. You also need honey and hemp seeds to mix into the yogurt. Agave or maple syrup will work in place of the honey.
- The fruit layer: I like raspberries with mine but you can use strawberries, peaches, oranges, bananas, etc!
- Crunchy bits: I like to use chocolate granola, but any granola you like will work.
- Optional: For a more breakfast take, you can add raspberries or jam. For a more dessert take, you can layer in my microwave mug brownie and caramel sauce or dates.
variations
All substitutions are a 1:1 substitute unless otherwise noted. See recipe card for quantities.
- Other mix-ins: You can use crumbeled protein brownie bark, brownie batter protein balls, high protein edible cookie dough, or monster cookie protein bites instead of granola.
- Peanut butter parfait: Instead of raspberries, you can layer this with banana slices and a drizzle of peanut butter.
- Mocha parfait: To kick off your morning, you can add a teaspoon of espresso powder to the yogurt mixture.

helpful tips
- Adjust the sweetness: Every vanilla yogurt has a different level of sweetness and everyone's tastes are different. So, taste and adjust to meet your own preferences.
- For meal prepping, layer this directly in jars or airtight storage containers for less clean up and mess.
Can I use plain Greek yogurt?
Yes to use plain, just add more honey! This is a great option if you already have plain yogurt on hand. Plus, this way you can completely control how sweet it is.
common questions
Yes, you can use hot cocoa mix or chocolate protein powder. If you use either of these, just leave out the honey.
Unfortunately no. Hemp seeds are much higher in protein than any other seed like this so without protein powder this is providing a lot of protein.
how to store & make it ahead
fridge
Protein yogurt parfaits will last for 4 days in the fridge in an airtight container. but, I would wait to add the granola until you are ready to eat it.
how to make it ahead of time
The key to storing parfaits is in the layering. To make these in advance to enjoy throughout the week, layer all the yogurt on the bottom, then a solid layer of raspberries, and finally cocoa nibs instead of granola (because it doesn't get soggy). If you want to use granola, keep it in a separate little bag or container and add it right before eating the brownie batter parfait.
Storing it in a mason jar is super efficient and easy to transport too!
