brownie protein fudge highlights
- Easy to make, you just blend everything together for this fudge and then let it sit in the freezer - easy!
- Just 6 ingredients are needed for this protein fudge.
- You won't even know it has protein powder in it because it's SO fudgy and chocolatey!
I grew up eating Weight Watchers fudge ice cream bars. This set my taste buds in motion to love all things fudgy chocolate like brownie batter protein yogurt parfait, brownie batter protein balls, and edible protein brownie batter.
Fudge fillings in cakes? Yes, please. Salted caramel fudge from a candy shop? Yes, please! So when I saw someone make a raw fudge recipe I knew I needed to make my own brownie protein fudge version.
Fudge can be complicated to make though so when I was developing the recipe, I wanted to make sure it was SO simple to make. I also needed to make sure it wasn't chalky because protein recipes get a bad rap for that. I achieved this by only using some protein powder and then adding hemp seeds for a natural protein source.
ingredient notes & substitutions
All substitutions are a 1:1 substitute unless otherwise noted. See recipe card for quantities.
- Dates: You will need dates that have been soaked in hot water for at least 15 minutes. This softens them so they can blend smooth.
- Coconut oil: This is awesome for protein fudge because it melts when heated and solid when chilled.
- The chocolate: This fudge uses a combination of chocolate protein powder and cacao powder (cocoa powder works too). This gives the fudge maximum chocolate flavor
- Hemp hearts: These are just shelled hemp hearts. They pack in 9g of protein per serving and have no taste.
- Salt & vanilla: These are just fudge basics!
mix-in's & variations
Any of these options can be mixed or swirled in for a different flavor!
- Peanut butter or almond butter

helpful tips
- Soak the dates for at least 15 minutes in hot water. I like to do this in the blender and just cover the top with a towel.
- Blend long enough (possibly 5+ minutes) and scrape down the sides. If you use a blender, I find it helpful to blend low and slow for a long time but a food processor blends faster. You have to scrape the sides periodically to make sure the dates are fully blended.
- If your blender isn't strong enough, soak the dates longer and keep an eye on it. If your blender isn't able to blend the dates, it can burn out the motor.
- Line the container with parchment paper to use a silicon mold. This makes it way easier to remove the fudge.
common questions
Yup and if you want it ultra smooth, blend for up to 20 minutes! I don't mind a little date texture so I blend for about 3 minutes.
Yup, cacao powder has more nutrients because it's less processed but the two are interchangeable.
In the freezer, the fudge takes about 1 hour to set up.
Yup, just substitute it with additional cacao powder or cocoa powder.
how to store it
This fudge is best kept in the freezer. Store it in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
ways to use this fudge
This fudge can be used in more ways than just to snack on. You can chop it up to put it on top of brownie batter protein chia seed pudding or brownie overnight oats. You can also use the fudge as a cake filling or frosting before freezing it.

Instructions
- Soak the ¾ c dates in the hot water for at least 15 minutes (longer if you have a blender that isn't super powerful).Line a 5x7 tupperware with parchment paper or use a silicon mold.
- Add everything to the blender and blend until smooth, stopping to scrap down the sides as needed. This can take anywhere from 2-10 minutes. Keep an eye on it because the long run time can overheat the motor on some blenders.A food processor will handle the blending better but it takes more scraping down the sides.
- Spread into the small tupperware dish or mold and then let it set in the freezer for at least an hour.
- Cut and enjoy!
