If you live by a Trader Joe’s fan, you're definitely familiar with their wide array of frozen, marinated, and heat-and-serve meals and desserts. And if you're like me, you often looking for high-protein options that you can enjoy throughout the week quickly.
What you might not realize is TJ's is an awesome option for getting a grab and go lunch from, too! And the best part is you can grab a bag of snacks or similar to double as a snack later on in the day! Plus, it's affordable and they have such a range of options for every diet and preference.
top trader joe's high protein finds
- Chocolate Almond Protein Smoothie (23g): Honestly SO tasty and cheaper than the competitors.
- Honey Greek Yogurt (6g): This is the best honey yogurt on the market! It's creamy, tangy, and just the right amount of sweet. You can actually taste the honey and the ingredient list is minimal. It comes in a large size or individual.
- Chickpea Crispy Rice Salad (12g): This is perfect for lunch because it's completely ready to go and will keep you filled. You could also grab some hummus and crackers to put the hummus on the salad and have the hummus and crackers as a snack later.

You can ask the Trader Joe's employees for utensils for your lunch if you don't have any. And!! They are not super flimsy ones, they will actually hold up to eating.

chocolate almond protein smoothie - 23g
For a delicious shake option that tastes like dessert - this protein smoothie is it! Enjoy it on its own for a snack or with a banana or small yogurt cup.
overnight oats - 8g
This is another great option that's delicious for more than just breakfast! For the spring they have strawberry flavor, but their classic flavors include vanilla and almond. And if you want to make it at home, you can make our Trader Joe's Vanilla Overnight Oats Copycat Recipe.
hard-boiled eggs - 6g each
One of my favorite snacks is to buy these, guacamole, and chips. Mix together the guac and hard boiled eggs in a cup and dip your chips in it! Perfect for an on the go option but maybe not for in the office since eggs are pretty pungent...
honey greek yogurt - 6g
This greek yogurt is gold!!! It's so creamy and has the perfect amount of honey flavor AND sweetness. I feel like sweetened yogurts are often too sweet but this one is just right. Pair it with some protein granola or nuts and you've got a delicious snack! It also comes in the large size or individual servings.
Mango Kefir - 8g
At my previous job, I was known for always having "weird" drinks like kombucha and ginger matcha. So, it wasn't uncommon for me to be sipping on kefir in the office. The best part is this jug is the perfect amount for one week in the office.
protein granola - 11g
When we buy this, Dan and I fight to eat it because it's SO good. We honestly should be buying 2 bags, 1 for each of us. We just snack on it but you can put it on yogurt, oatmeal, protein chia seed pudding, and more.
Barbell protein bar - 20g
These come in all sorts of flavors and even in plant based! They are my favorite because they aren't chalky and taste like a candy bar! Keep these protein bars in your car (maybe not int he summer because the chocolate will melt) or in your desk for a quick protein snack.
skipjack tuna - 25g
I think folks forget about how great tuna is as a protein source! It's cheap and shelf stable. Skipjack is also low in mercury because its a smaller fish if you're concerned with that. I will eat tuna mixed with an avocado or crumble it over a salad for more protein.
protein microwave muffin - 12g
Trader Joe's started selling these a few years ago and they saved me on busy mornings more times than I can count! They are also great for an office snack or even to make in the gas station microwave.
Babybel cheese - 5g
These little cheeses are 1. super cute 2. delicious and 3. can be eaten as is or with an apple and crackers fo a make shift charcuterie situation.
chickpea, kale, and crispy red rice salad - 12g
This little salad is new to TJ's and I'm pretty sure it's supposed to hit on the crispy rice trend from a trendy salad bar. Regardless, it's delicious and packs in a lot of plant based protein! Grab it and top with a dollop of hummus for even more protein!
microwave egg bites - 21g
If you want a cheaper option than Starbuck's egg bites, try these! They are delicious and you can grab a coffee at TJ's to go with it.
protein palette - 31g
Enjoy an elevated Lunchable with this protein pack. The peppered salami and parmesan crisps take this to the next level! I don't like cheese slices so having the crispy cheese whisps is a game changer!
wine country chicken salad - 10g
I'm a California native so I will always enjoy a California-style chicken salad. This one is awesome because it packs in protein but is totally dairy free! Enjoy as is or with crackers or veggies.
hummus snack packs
The ultimate grab a go option, these hummus packs come with crackers! This would be great to pair with that chickpea salad too and you'll have three more to enjoy throughout the week.
