a taste of the Mediterranean
- Scalable: You can make a single batch of this or easily scale it up or down depending on how many you're serving.

- High in protein: Thanks to canned tuna, this dip is quick to make and high in protein!
ingredient notes & substitutions
All substitutions are a 1:1 substitute unless otherwise noted. See the recipe card for quantities.
- Hummus: Any store-bought variety works! Or try our high-protein hummus recipe.
- Tzatziki - Creamy and tangy. Feel free to use store-bought or our high protein tzatziki.
- Skipjack tuna - Adds more protein and flavor. Albacore works, too, but Skipjack has less mercury because it's a smaller fish.
- Feta: Opt for a block verses crumbeled.
- Red onion: White onion or shallots will work, too.
- English cucumber: These are a sweeter variety than a standard cucumber. Mini cucumbers work too.
- Cherry tomatoes: For a bit of sweetness.
- Lemon: You'll need the lemon juice and can add the zest to the top if you want it extra lemony.
- Seasoning - Salt to taste and then finish with fresh dill.
- Pita crackers: For serving.

expert tips
- Chop everything small: Like smaller than you think. This makes it easier to eat with a chip.
- Break up the tuna: Tuna is packed in a can so trying to break it up while on top of a creamy base is nearly impossible. Instead pour it into a bowl and break it up with a fork first.
keep the salad separate
If you're traveling with the dip, keep the salad off of the dip until right before serving. The veggies will release moisture over time and it can get weird.
common questions
This dip can sit at room temperature for the duration of the game (about 3-4 hours). After that, it's best to refrigerate any leftovers. I would try to keep it chilled if people aren't actively eating.
Pita crackers are my favorite but fresh veggies like cucumber slices, bell peppers, or carrot sticks work great.

troubleshooting & testing notes
This can happen if the veggies release too much liquid. To prevent this, salt the veggies lightly and let them sit for a few minutes before assembling. Drain any excess liquid before adding to the dip. The salt draws out excess moisture.
The dip is too salty
Be mindful of how much salt you add to the salad layer, especially since feta is naturally salty. Taste as you go!
how to store & meal prep it
This dip will last up to 3 days in the fridge in an airtight container. It's best enjoyed fresh but still delicious as leftovers!

What I love about this recipe is how crisp and fresh it is. It's great as a healthy appetizer!
This was delish! I modified mine a little for what ingredients I had on hand- homemade tzatziki (1/2 cottage cheese & 1/2 Greek yogurt) & no hummus. I made a little dressing for my veggies/olives with olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, and S&P. Came out so good. Def worth making!
