This apple milkshake packs 16 grams of protein and is ready in 5 minutes. It has all the flavors of fall! Using frozen apples with the skins on keeps the fiber high and doesn't require ice. This means it keeps in the fridge for up to 3 days without the texture being watered down.

In the fall, we have loads of apples, and last year I discovered they are delicious frozen! They add sweetness, a great texture, and fiber. Sure, you can use apples to make caramel apple yogurt bark, apple baked oats, protein apple fritters, or apple chicken salad, but I think an apple milkshake is the best.
This one uses all-natural sweeteners and healthy creamy ingredients like cottage cheese and Greek yogurt instead of heavy cream and ice cream. So let's blend!

freeze those apples now
That's the only thing about apple milkshakes is that you need to freeze your apples in advance. This gives it that milkshake texture without ice cream and a bunch of added sugar.
key ingredients & swaps
All substitutions are a 1:1 substitute unless otherwise noted. See the recipe card for quantities.
- Apples: I like to use Honey Crisp, but any sweet and crisp one will work. Leave those skins on to keep the fiber high.
- Creamy ingredients: Grab plain Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and soy milk. You can use any milk you like, but soy milk has a high protein content while still being a plant-based milk. Other milks like almond milk and oat milk work, but they have far less protein.
- Sweetness: I use dates for a little caramel flavor (without caramel syrup) and maple syrup for extra sweetness.
- Spices: I love to use all the classic apple pie spices, like cinnamon, vanilla, and ginger. If you're serving this to kids, you might need to leave out the ginger.

if your blender struggles to blend dates...
This is a common issue with blenders that aren't as strong. To help your dates blend, soak them for 15 minutes or so in hot water (just enough to cover them. Cover the bowl or whatever you're using with a towel to keep the heat in. This will rehydrate the dates. Just drain off the water before adding them to the blender.

step by step: tips to nail this apple shake every time
- Prep by freezing your apple in cubes and soaking your dates (if you don't have a high-powered blender).
- Blend longer than you think. We want it nice and smooth, and as it blends more, the little bit of peanut butter powder becomes fluffy.

meal prep this shake
To enjoy this apple milkshake recipe all week, I'll freeze two apples as needed and then put everything else in four mason jars. I'll pre-portion the ingredients in each jar so that in the morning, you can pour the contents from one jar and some of the apple into the blender. No messing with measuring during the busy morning!
how to store it
Since this shake doesn't use ice, it keeps really well in the fridge after being blended. You can keep it directly in the blender or in an airtight container or jar for up to 3 days. You may just need to give it a stir before enjoying.

You shouldn't need it if you use frozen apples!
