I swear it doesn't taste like cottage cheese!
- No protein powder is required, and only natural sources of protein like almond flour and hemp seeds are available.
- It's a high-protein alternative to those classic summer flavors and your favorite edible cookie dough.
- It's gluten-free since it doesn't use any regular flour.
Have you ever bought Tollhouse cookie dough to make cookies only to find out you've eaten all the dough before you got a chance to bake it? Ya, me either... 🫣
Just kidding, I have, and that's why I developed this high-protein cottage cheese cookie dough with smores flavors! I have another edible protein cookie dough and smores protein balls but that is more for eating raw. This one, I wanted it to be good for dipping graham crackers into for that full smores experience!
Now I know what you're thinking - this has to taste like cottage cheese, right?? When I first saw this go viral on social media, I thought the same thing, but through a few trials, I learned how to make this taste like cookie dough and not cottage cheese!

you don't need much
All substitutions are a 1:1 substitute unless otherwise noted. See recipe card for quantities for this protein cookie dough without peanut butter.
- Cottage cheese: Any kind will work great. Cream cheese can be used in place of some cottage cheese, but you'll need to add a little milk to create the right texture. You might be able to use vanilla Greek yogurt instead of cottage cheese, but it will be tangier. Not sure about cottage cheese? It can even be made into protein fugesicles that are kid-approved!
- Natural protein: Hemp seeds (hemp hearts) and almond flour are the other ways I pack in the protein.
- The cookie dough part: To really hammer home the cookie dough flavor, you'll need vanilla extract and maple syrup.
- The smores part: Be sure to use mini chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. I used regular mini marshmallows but you can also use the little hot chocolate topper ones.
variations
- Add crushed graham crackers in place of some of the almond flour for more smores flavor.
- Use oat flour in place of almond flour if you're nut-free.
- Reese's cup cookie dough can be made by swapping the marshmallows for mini Reese cups. You can also swirl in some creamy peanut butter!

helpful tips
- Use a blender for the cottage cheese: This gets rid of the curds and leaves just a silky, creamy cheese.
- Adjust the sweetness: If you like it real sweet, feel free to add in more maple syrup. Just be sure to add a little more almond flour to counter the extra liquid.
- Chill it, if you want to eat it like cookie dough. This just gives the dough time to rehydrate the almond flour making it more cookie dough like.
is almond flour safe to eat raw?
It sure is! That's the beauty of almond flour is that it's pasturized unlike all purpose flour.

common questions
No, ok, well, you can, but it probably needs to be heat-treated since it's not pasteurized like almond flour.
Certainly! You can swap the hemp hearts for vanilla protein powder if you like.
Yes, you can freeze this in an airtight container for up to 3 months. I like to portion it into balls, freeze these on a tray first and then transfer to my favorite W & P freezer bins. You can use the code MIKA12022 to get 15% off too!
how to store it
I like to keep this in the fridge for the week to snack on. Simply store it in an airtight container - easy peesy!

- Cottage cheese normally comes in 16oz containers and 8 oz is about ¾ cup. 8 fluid oz is a full cup but cottage cheese is not a liquid but also not solid so it lands some where in the middle.
