- 12 oz fresh cranberries or ½ cup cranberry jam
- ½ cup maple syrup or honey
- 2 oz Fireball Whiskey see notes for leeaving this out
- ¼ cup water
Add all ingredients to a saucepan
Bring contents to a boil over medium heat. Reduce to a simmer and cover. Cook for 10 minutes or until the cranberries start to pop.
As the cranberries start to pop, use a whisk or fork to gently mash the cranberries and stir. This will help thicken the sauce and the starches release.
Continue to cook for another 5 minutes until thickened. Transfer to a bowl or jar and let cool slightly before serving.
Storage: To store this, let it cool completely before covering it in an air-tight container. Then cover and store in the fridge for up to 7 days. This sauce is great for making a day in advance for any gatherings!
To make it kid-friendly: Leave out the fireball and replace with 2 oz (18th of a cup) of water and 2 tsps of cinnamon.
